Abstrak
Introduction. Following the fourth amendment to the 1945 Constitution in 2002, the presidential and vice-presidential elections were agreed to be directly elected by the people and included in the general election process. Law Number 22 of 2007 also included regional elections as part of the general election. The term "election" more often refers to legislative and presidential elections, which are held every five years. The principle of deliberation is also enshrined in Surah al-Syu'ara, verse 38, which is used as a reference by state institutions and implemented in elections. When elections for the PPWP (WP), the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), and the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), entering into the lives of rural communities, patron-client relationships with community leaders became a necessity. One example is in Gunungsari Village. The researcher's attention to the role of religious leaders in winning regional head candidates makes this research interesting to explore, entitled "Political Communication of Community Leaders in Islamic Parties in Responding to the 2024 Regional Elections in Gunungsari Village, Umbulsari District, Jember Regency." The focus of this research is: 1) How does political communication among community leaders within Islamic parties respond to the 2024 regional elections in Gunungsari Village, Umbulsari District, Jember Regency? 2) What are the supporting factors in political communication among community leaders within Islamic parties responding to the 2024 regional elections in Gunungsari Village, Umbulsari District, Jember Regency? 3) What are the inhibiting factors in political communication among community leaders within Islamic parties responding to the 2024 regional elections in Gunungsari Village, Umbulsari District, Jember Regency?.
Method of collecting data. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation.
Data analysis. After the data was collected, it was analyzed through data reduction, data display, and data verification. To obtain valid data, the researcher continued by using data triangulation and source triangulation.
Result and Discussion. The community leaders in Gunungsari village communicate about the PPP and PKB by providing information to the public, introducing their visions and missions and supporting figures from PPP and PKB, and inviting the public to vote for their candidates.
Conclusion. Supporting factors in the political communication of community leaders in Islamic parties in response to the 2024 regional elections in Gunungsari Village, Umbulsari District, Jember Regency include shared language, cultural traditions, and emotional closeness with the community. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include the existence of predetermined choices and fanaticism within the community, which leads community leaders to prefer not to invite the public to vote to avoid conflict.
